Boatman Spirits Co., opening this week at Seaboard Station

Boatman Spirits Co., a craft distillery and cocktail bar celebrating Mediterranean cuisine, will officially open its doors on Friday, June 13, 2025 in downtown Raleigh’s Seaboard Station.

the Obsequy.

Founded by four Triangle hospitality veterans, Boatman Spirits Co. blends handcrafted spirits, inventive cocktails and immersive hospitality into a single, transportive experience. The name “Boatman” nods to mythological guides—like Charon, ferryman of the River Styx—symbolizing the team’s goal of guiding guests on a journey through flavor, storytelling and design.

“We found our name through our overlapping dreams to execute service that offers escape from both the outside world and run-of-the-mill offerings," said Aaron Lambert, a Boatman co-owner and director of operations who previously worked as general manager at Raleigh's Whiskey Kitchen. "We want the space, menus and execution to be a departure from the expected. We want the atmosphere to capture your attention and your senses and whisk you away to some new far-off place."

The space is gorgeous and a wonderful new addition to downtown Raleigh’s cocktail bar scene. The distillery and bar were designed by one of Raleigh’s most fab interior designers, Bryan Costello of Studio Costello whose previous works includes Heights House, Madre and Moon Room and done in collaboration with Ethan Page and Tori O’Connor of Maurer Architecture.

I got to attend a sneak peek before they opened and I ordered the Obsequy, and it did not disappoint! It’s a dirty martini hiding in the fuzz of a preserved peach. So good and so beautifully presented, different than any cocktail I’ve ever had.

Add them to your list of wonderful new places to discover in downtown Raleigh, especially if you are a cocktail connoisseur!
