Palm Springs Modernism Week

Modernism Week in Palm Springs is an annual celebration of midcentury modern architecture, design, and culture. The event features tours, exhibitions, lectures, and parties that highlight the architectural innovation and cultural impact of modernism.

Modernism Week 2026: February 12-22, 2026

The festival includes over 400 events, such as home tours, fashion showcases, classic car exhibitions, and architectural bus tours. Some events sell out quickly, so early ticket purchases are recommended.

You can find more details and book tickets on the official Modernism Week website.

The desert might be dry, but Palm Springs is full of vibrant life and color.

We have attended Modernism Week in Palm Springs twice, once in 2022 and again in 2024. The first time we stayed at the Renaissane Palm Springs Hotel near the main streets of the city. The second time we stayed at a very cool Airbnb which had all the modernism vibes as well as a pool and nice backyard patio to relax in.

Both trips we signed up for several modernism house tours and also made side trips around Palm Springs. We’ve been to Joshua Tree National Park, and nearby Pioneer Town (both trips). A great picture worthy stop is Pappy & Harriet’s Pioneertown Palace, you can even catch a live show there.

Also while in Palm Springs try and make time to catch the Tramway up to the top of the mountain (bring a jacket!). There’s a restaurant and bar as well as amazing views of the desert.

The Palm Springs Aerial Tramway—the world’s largest rotating tram car—travels over two-and-one-half miles along the breathtaking cliffs of Chino Canyon and the Coachella Valley, transporting riders to the pristine wilderness of the Mt. San Jacinto State Park. During your approximately ten-minute journey, tram cars rotate slowly, offering spectacular vistas of the valley floor below.

Once you reach the Mountain Station—elevation 8,516 feet—there are two restaurants, observation decks, gift shop and over 50 miles of hiking trails.”

Another fun day outing is up to Bear Lake and Big Bear City. Whiskey Dave’s is a fun spot and just walking around the town is cool.

On our first trip to Palm Springs we checked out a very cool art exhibit that featured numerous outdoor art installations. I loved it and it was fun to try and find them all. It’s called Desert X.

For the surf fans, Palm Springs Surf Club, a fun adventure park in the heart of Palm Springs! PSSC features state-of-the-art wave technology catering to surfers of all levels. You can enjoy resort-style amenities, captivating waterpark attractions, or just have lunch and watch all the surf events going on.

SO many things to do in Palm Springs, we look forward to coming back again, hopefully to Modernism Week 2026!
